A Word To Not Forget!

"God has a plan and a purpose for us, both as individuals and as a church family.  Make sure you have time to fit it in! In part at least, we know that we are to be a watering hole/oasis/well to the wider body of Christ. This means that at any given time, there will be those among us who are called to be here permanently, ministering to those who come. There will be those for whom this is a base. We will be water carriers, called to take it out and come back. Then there will be those who are here to be refreshed and refilled, to partake of this ministry. We need to know which’ group ‘we’re in. If you are not sure, ask Jesus to show you. And when you know, make sure that you are ready to play your part.  We have to decide, both as individuals and as a church family whether or not we’re ‘up for it’. Will you step up to the plate?"

CTF 'Soaking in God's Presence' Weekend - Nov 2008

Catch the Fire in conjunction with Gosbecks Christian Fellowship hosted a  SIPW weekend at Plume Avenue URC at the end of November.  Over 70 people from different fellowships attended during the two days, and all met with Father in some way. The times of worship, led by different people, showed what a diverse and wonderful group of musicians we have in Colchester.  The drummers were awesome and definitely beat out the rhythm of heaven!

Many discovered a new or deeper intimacy with the Father, all learned that we can hear God's voice and all spent some time listening to what He had to say.  It was a lot to take in over the two days but it was a special time and we were truly grateful to the team of nine who came from Catch the Fire to bless us all.  The team commented that there was something special about the Colchester SIPW and that it had been the best one ever.  All the team enjoyed the food  -  a huge thank you must go to Sarah, Tracy and Gail for producing some wonderful 'grub' during the conference - just sad that I wasn't well enough that week end to truly enjoy it!

Our prayer is that all who attended will continue to SOAK in his presence, to HEAR his voice, to get their HEARTS HEALED and to walk in the freedom which the Father promises.  On that note a lady from a local church phoned me a week before Christmas to let me know that she had been healed during the weekend.  She had been able to stand and carol sing for several hours and was walking more freely that she had done for several years - PRAISE GOD.  Any more testimonies please let us know - we love to hear what Daddy is doing among His children.

Finally a special thank you to Sue & Dave Watt at Plume Avenue, who worked tirelessly over the two days, setting up, working the PA, washing up, running around... the list is endless.  Without them and their willingness to bless us all the weekend would not have been possible!

Happy new year!

Well Happy New Year everybody! As someone always says - where did last year go? Well it was a challenging year and also an exciting one. The father has poured his love on us, even in the midst of trouble and perhaps some financial difficulty.

A few new emphases this term. First of all you’ll notice there are Sunday evenings in all of a sudden! We’re planning two a month and we’ll see what they become. But for sure they’ll be coming into the presence of God together in worship, ministry in the Father’s love, and prayer. We’ll see how they develop: we want to really experience his presence, and we want to pray too. We’ll have no sermons planned; we’ll see what Father wants to do each time.

No small groups this term, apart from Value group for those newer to the Church or who have not covered the material. We want to really encourage people to be more regular at soaking. Don't give up - come and allow the father to touch your life! There will also be one-offs from time to time in midweek to encourage us and give us opportunity to fellowship.

Most of all there is I believe a renewed call to serve at the well this term. The well symbolises his presence to fill and overflow with the Father's Love. Our call as a congregation is to welcome and honour his presence, then to give it away. We are not just called to drink at the Oasis - we are also called to service and maintain it. Please join in with this task and allow this ministry to grow.

I'm looking forward to Sunday - he'll be with us as we gather to worship him!

Dave

Rivercamp 2008

A bunch of folks from Gosbecks had a great time at Rivercamp 2008 at the Lenchwood Christian centre in the Vale of Evesham. We were joined by folks from Tiptree and Lexden and also various friends from around the country who we met on-site!

It was great fun, full of laughter, tears and wonderful fellowship,  and the Lord REALLY spoke to us and touched us greatly. Come next year - we've already got the booking forms!

Mornings and evenings were worship, teaching and ministry times with Mark Stibbe and Ken Gott covering most of the teaching, and the afternoons were for sports, fun, bouncy castle boxing, etc.  Dave & Sarah, Steve & Tracey and Mick & Manda barely left our kettles alone for a minute as visitors streamed through our bit of the camp-site each afternoon!
